The GDT mourns the loss of Gisela Pölking.

With Gisela's passing, the German Society for Nature Photography (GDT) has lost one of its members, who was among the very first to shape the GDT community. She established herself early on as a nature photographer with her own unique perspective alongside her husband Fritz. She was undoubtedly one of the pioneers of a more feminine and artistic approach to nature photography.

    Gisela Pölking

passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. This news fills us with great sadness.

Our thoughts are with her daughter Petra and her family.

Anyone who felt connected to Gisela is warmly invited to attend the funeral on Thursday, 8 May 2025, at 2.30 p.m. at the Ostfriedhof cemetery, Rademacherweg 567 in Cologne.

Gisela prefaced her much-acclaimed book 'Schöpfungsdesign‘ (Design of Creation) with a quote by Hazrat Inayat Khan: 'My heart is tuned to the quietness that the stillness of nature inspires.'

May her heart be held in the care of her Creator."

Instead of flowers, the deceased requested that donations be made to either Cologne Zoo or the Biological Station in the Rieselfelder in Münster.
